The Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (ZMG) is a city of charismatic, dynamic and enterprising people that, for over 60 years, have consolidated one of the strongest and most productive ecosystems of the electronic and digital industries in Mexico. The “Pearl of the West” has a privileged location, a warm weather, a vast natural and cultural richness and extraordinary connecting points with the northern and center parts of the country, as well as other international destinations.
ZMG is a dynamic technological ecosystem, product of more than 50 years of evolution that started with manufacture services for the electronic industry and later expanded towards software development, cybernetics, special services installation and the creative digital industry. There are currently more than 600 companies in the technologic sector, which represent 50% of the state’s export. The technologic sector settled in Jalisco, encompassing companies of electronics and aerospace manufacture, electronic and automotive design and software development, among others, contributes to the creation of more than 87 thousand jobs and generates an investment of over 4.56 billion dollars in the state.

Guadalajara is a young city. 42% of its population is under 24 years of age and 34% is between 15 and 34. It has a high Human Development Index (HDI: 0,882) and over 18 thousand Information Technology graduates. With 13 top level universities and 37 technical teaching centers that offer altogether more than 80 educational programs, ZMG is an important university center with more than 100 thousand students and more than 1,000 scholars subscribed to the National Researchers System (SNI) of the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt).
